Mandibular flexure in opening and closing movements.

چکیده
I n considering the many complicated motions that the human mandible is capable of performing, one is inclined to overlook the almost imperceptible decrease in arch width that accompanies its movements. The mandible may be likened to an archer’s bow, and the muscles may be compared to its string. During opening and closing jaw movements, it is thought that the muscles of the floor of the mouth and the t’cvo lateral pterygoid muscles exert a contracting forcr upon the mandible, causing a flexure which results in arch width changes.” ”

متن کامل[Mandibular movements in speech: interference of temporomandibular disfunction according to pain indexes].
BACKGROUND temporomandibular disorders can cause general alterations of the mandibular movements due to modification in the condition of muscles and articulations. Electrognathography, a computerized exam used to complement the diagnosis of these disorders, allows the objective delineation and record of the mandibular movements, determining their amplitude and speed. AIM to verify the charact...
متن کاملCorrelation between facial morphology, mouth opening ability, and condylar movement during opening-closing jaw movements in female adults with normal occlusion.
The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between parameters of facial morphology, maximal voluntary mouth opening ability, and condylar movements in 21 adult females, aged between 20 and 24 years. The subjects had a normal occlusion without sign or symptoms of temporomandibular joint (TMJ) dysfunction. Mandibular movements were recorded using an opto-electric jaw movement recor...
